First Trail with My Son: Our Epic Adventure Kicks Off!
Adventures? They’re the best damn thing I can share with my son. And now, one of the biggest is staring us down. My boy, barely four, is lacing up for his first real trail. And not just any old walk in the park! This isn’t just a stroll; it’s his first night under canvas, his first multi-day trek in the wild, and most importantly, his first big expedition with just Dad. This is chapter one of our journey together, and I’m stoked to share our excitement and prep with you all.
Fjällräven Campfire: What’s on the Docket?
We’re heading to the Fjällräven Campfire, a three-day backcountry bash deep in the heart of the White Carpathians. It’s an organized trek – self-supported, of course, so we’re hauling our own kit. We’ll go at our own pace, but surrounded by a tribe of fellow nature-lovers. It’s the perfect chance to level up our outdoor game.
Our packs are loaded, and I’m crossing my fingers we haven’t forgotten anything crucial. My son? He’s a boundless ball of energy, practically vibrating with impatience. Me? I’ve got that familiar mix of pre-trail jitters and pure, unadulterated excitement bubbling up. We’ve already kicked off the journey by heading to Boršice to crash with friends. Tomorrow morning, we’ll roll out from there straight to the trailhead.
The Trail and Our Post-Hike Plans
But even after we’ve crushed the whole trek, our adventure won’t be over. On the way home, we’re planning a pit stop in Jihlava for a night of R&R and a visit to the local zoo. Considering how much my son loves animals, I figure it’ll be the perfect trail magic after all those kilometers on his little legs.
