2025 wasn’t about conquering distant continents. It was about discovering what my closest crew – myself, my son, and my four-legged buddy – could truly handle. Looking back at my 2025 recap, I see the relentless rain of the Jizera Mountains, the weight of a pack on a trail with my son, and the endless mud of the White Carpathians. Together, across these three main adventures, we crushed over 230 kilometers. It was a ride that hurt, taught humility, but most importantly, it showed me that limits only exist in our heads.
The Czech Trail: Jizera & Giant Mountains, a Tale of Unexpected Twists
My year’s trekking kicked off with Stage IV of the Czech Trail. The Jizera and Giant Mountains tested us right from the get-go. Nearly 120 kilometers underfoot, a rain-soaked Sněžka swallowed by fog, and a constant dance between exhaustion and exhilaration.
It was a lesson in patience. Even though circumstances forced us to cut the stage short, every one of those 120 kilometers etched into my memory that the journey is the destination – even when you can’t see that destination through a thick fog. What are your experiences with the northern mountains when the weather goes absolutely bonkers?
Fjällräven Campfire: When Dad Becomes a Buddy and Son Becomes a Hero
If I had to pick the most cherished moment from my 2025 recap, it would be the 55 kilometers of our first trail together with my son. That 14 kg on my back felt like the lightest weight in the world as I watched my little buddy battle fatigue and joyfully discover the world.
Our journey ended with a well-deserved rest and a trip to the Jihlava Zoo, the perfect reward for his effort. This experience showed me that shared joy is double joy, and that even 55 kilometers can reframe my perspective on fatherhood and mountains.
Dogtrekking White Carpathians: 62 km of Mud, Cramps, and a Lost Phone
The season’s finale belonged to the toughest physical challenge. Dogtrekking with Brixie in the White Carpathians turned into an absolute “massacre.” 62 kilometers underfoot, mud, a lost (and found!) phone, and a physical crisis that forced me to dig deep into my reserves. This part of the 2025 recap wasn’t about pretty pictures; it was about pure grit and proving that with Brixie by my side, I can tackle the impossible. Can you imagine, after such a thrashing, immediately feeling like planning the next adventure?
2025 Statistical Recap:
- Total Miles Hiked (main trails): 237 km
- Longest Single Stage: 62 km (Dogtrekking White Carpathians)
- Heaviest Pack: 14 kg + gear (Fjällräven Campfire)
- Biggest Experience: Watching my son conquer his first real trail.
- Most Critical Moment: Losing my phone and the muddy hell in the Carpathians.
- Trail Buddies: My son, Brixie, and friends from the northern stage.
Conclusion: For me, 2025 was a year of self-discovery and incredible stories. Every single kilometer, from the rainy Giant Mountains to the muddy Carpathians, had its purpose. This 2025 recap is proof that with the right crew, you can conquer anything. What about you? Which of my journeys this year inspired you the most? Or did you conquer your own “Sněžka” this year? Tell me in the comments; your stories always fire me up!
