Czech Trail: Stage III, Day 3

Apartment Morning Chill

No breakfast order for me today. Having an apartment meant I could whip up my own breakfast! I cooked up some porridge and coffee from my stash. Yesterday, I rationed water like crazy, but with a full resupply, I’m hydrating without a second thought. Still, I felt like I could sleep for another week!

Resupply and the Trek via Luž Hut

Finally, I peeled myself out the door. First stop: the shop for a Coca-Cola, another Corny bar, and some Kitkat chocolate. I pushed through Luž Hut – yesterday, that climb would’ve broken me. Grabbed an ice cream and kept moving.

New Experiences and Painful Steps

First time deploying the trowel on the German side. Game changer! Left no trace, literally. My left ankle, however, decided to throw a full-day tantrum. I pushed through Raven Rocks to the Na Hřebenovce restaurant near Krompach, dreaming of lunch. Ordered, waited 30 minutes, then threw in the towel and bailed without eating. A bit further down the trail, I ripped open a Corny bar, dumped some nuts into my pocket for later, and kept pushing towards Petrovice. By then, I was properly knackered, and my leg screamed bloody murder. I pressed on to Jítrava, where I planned to crash at the parish house. A big storm’s brewing for tonight, so a roof over my head will be a godsend. Along the way, hiking the fields – or rather, the edge of the fields and forest – I spotted a roe deer grazing. Pure trail magic.

Dinner at Pivnice ve Dvorci

Currently parked at Pivnice ve Dvorci, nursing a beer and waiting for dinner – or is it a late lunch? Funny thing is, I wasn’t even hungry on the trail.

The views were killer, but it’s tough to soak them in when every step is agony. Today was a real cooker, and I feel absolutely grimy. Can’t wait for a shower and some sleep. I still need to call the lady when I get to the parish house so she can guide me in. Eventually, I made it to the parish house, and it was fantastic! Curled up in my sleeping bag and slept like a log.
