Camino Prep: My Solo Adventure Begins

Camino prep is in full swing. I was originally supposed to head out in 2020, to make the trip before my daughter was born. Fate and the Covid-19 pandemic, however, had other plans. Just two days before my flight, our country’s borders slammed shut. Now, three years later, a new opportunity has landed in my lap.

A Fresh Start

I’ve got a plane ticket booked again and my first night’s accommodation is sorted. I’m slowly packing my backpack and getting ready for a journey that will be full of firsts for me:

  • I’ll be flying solo for the first time.
  • I’ll be heading abroad by myself for the first time.
  • I’ll be embarking on a long journey all on my own for the first time.

This is a big step outside my comfort zone. But as I like to say, “Everything’s a first for the first time.” So, no need to overthink it. I fly out tomorrow, so let’s do this!

What’s in the Pack

The Plan

I’m flying direct from Prague to Porto. I’ve got 14 days of leave, including travel time. My goal is to reach Santiago de Compostela, and maybe even the “end of the world” (Finisterre). We’ll see what the coming days bring.
