PCT Day 17: Unexpected Morning, Quick Decisions, and a Move to Ridgecrest

A Morning Full of Surprises

Today started pretty unexpectedly. I woke up around six and actually felt decent. Made some coffee, grabbed the leftover pizza from last night, and was just chilling, eating, while everyone else around me was deep in conversation. I wasn’t paying much attention until the question came: “And you?”

A bit confused, I replied, “What? What’s up?”
Turns out, it was my turn: “Are you coming with us, or staying?”

I decided to go.

The Ride with Melody and Nicolas

So, I ended up heading out with Melody and Nicolas towards Ridgecrest. An older lady picked us up in the morning and drove us to Palm Springs to a car rental place at the airport. She was super nice, but her driving style was… well, let’s just say quite spirited. Sharp swerves and high speeds, which paradoxically, didn’t bother me at all on the slick, icy road.

We stopped at Walmart on the way to stock up on supplies.

Prepping Mail Drops for the Trail

At Walmart, we packed and mailed three resupply boxes to different sections of the trail. Now, we just have to hope they’re there when we need them. This will make things a lot easier because food on the trail can get ridiculously expensive.

After that, we kept going until we reached our accommodation for the night.

Back to the Trail Tomorrow

Tomorrow, we plan to head back to the trail and continue our adventure.
