I have to take back everything I said before – the absolute worst night of the entire trip happened last night. The bed was soft, but saggy and worn out, so I was wide awake by 4:30 AM. On top of the insomnia, my stomach started rumbling. Hunger hit hard. Around seven, I managed to close my eyes for a bit, but by 7:30 AM, I was up for good.
My first steps led me straight to Lidl for breakfast, then directly to the laundromat. It was clear as day that the clothes I’d been wearing for several days straight needed a serious wash. Yeah, I *could* wait until I get home, but I figured my fellow plane passengers wouldn’t appreciate it. They’ll still get another spin in the machine back home, anyway.
Aimless Wanderings Through Lagos’ Streets
Today was all about wandering the streets of Lagos without a fixed plan. The “must-see” part of the city center isn’t actually that big. But the whole town is pretty hilly, and honestly, it just didn’t grab me. Compared to Porto, which had its own undeniable charm, Lagos felt… I don’t know how to put it. Maybe it’s just the exhaustion talking? Have you ever felt that way on a trip, where even a nice city just leaves you cold?
I also probably figured out why I slept so poorly. On the way to my accommodation yesterday, I bought a Cherry Guaraná drink. It tasted great, but it totally slipped my mind that it’s a natural caffeine bomb, way stronger than coffee. Honestly, I’m surprised it didn’t flatline me!
Miles Underfoot and a Second Hot Dinner in Lagos
Even with all the aimless wandering, I clocked in about 25 km. Not a bad haul. It was more of a relaxed stroll, but still good. Today was the first day I hiked purely in a t-shirt and shorts – finally unzipping those pant legs! I also already booked my accommodation for tomorrow in Lisbon, hopefully, it’ll be alright.
After a full day, I’m completely wiped, so I went to find something for dinner. I was looking for a spot where the locals eat. The internet pointed to Adega da Maria as a non-touristy option. Well, no locals there, just expensive prices and an empty room. So, I kept walking. Eventually, I stumbled upon an “Italian restaurant” and ordered linguine with shrimp for 15 €. Overall, though, I’m just not feeling great, completely wiped. This is only my second hot, cooked meal on the entire trip, after all. Will my body even manage to recover by morning?

- Dnes nachozeno: 25 km
- Zážitek dne: Guaraná caffeine shock and wandering Lagos’ streets.
- Počasí: Sunny, finally shorts weather.
- Stav zásob: Lidl haul and a hot dinner.
