Well, here we are. Time to head home, back to the family and all the grown-up stuff. All good things must end, but man, this one was worth every single step! I absolutely soaked up every moment of the entire Fisherman’s Trail adventure, the good bits and the tough ones alike.
Honestly, I’m looking forward to getting home. Love my family, and while solo time is great now and then, sharing these kinds of experiences just hits different. Something surprising happened on this trip, though. Because I was speaking only English, sentences and words just started flying around in my head all on their own. My English isn’t exactly fluent, but it was pretty funny watching my brain scramble to explain everything in a foreign tongue.
Last Morning in Lisbon and the Airport Run
The weather throughout my entire Fisherman’s Trail journey was unbelievably perfect. Even though I only had my first night’s accommodation locked in, and the rest came with a slight stress about prices and availability, I managed to sort it all out. I’m tired, but totally content.
Last night was a bit rough; I didn’t crash until after midnight, and then my roommate from the Azores woke me up at 5 AM. By seven, I was up too. Quick shower, final pack-up of the backpack, and by eight, I was sitting down for breakfast. Seriously, after a trek like that, do you think a guy can actually sit still? Not me. I had to hit the streets one last time.
Bidding Farewell to Sunny Portugal
Before I head to the airport, I’m taking a walk to the Vasco da Gama Tower. The coastline towards the Oceanário looks totally different at low tide. I watch the little boats in the bay and finally treat myself to a proper coffee and a delicious pastel de nata. The sun is shining just right, and honestly, right now I don’t really want to go home at all 🙂 What’s your favorite spot in Lisbon?
But before noon, I’m already at the airport. Security is a breeze, and I kill time with lunch, browsing the shops, and watching the departure board. At the gate, I bump into Lucka and Karel, we chat for a bit, and then we’re boarding the plane. I’m in the aisle seat, watching the hustle and bustle. Everything ran like clockwork; we even took off right on schedule!
Back to Reality in Prague
The flight flew by, and by 18:20, we’re touching down on the runway in Prague. I’m curious how the Czech weather will greet me. I’m just in shorts and a T-shirt, but I’ve got my down jacket clutched in my backpack, ready to go. Going from Portuguese sunshine to March in Prague? Yeah, that’s gonna be a shocker, right?
By 18:40, I’m already on the bus heading for the metro. Even though getting out of row 19 felt like an eternity, I’m finally almost home. Fisherman’s Trail was incredible, and those memories? Nobody can take those away from me.
