Early Start in the Rain
Slept a bit better tonight, though someone’s snoring woke me up. Earplugs to the rescue, thankfully. It was raining at 6 AM, but the forecast said the rain would stop by 7. At 7:45, still in the dark, I was already ticking off the first kilometers.

Meeting Anna and First Break
Around the 7-kilometer mark, I ran into Anna with a big group. We said hello, but I kept going solo. After 13.5 km and 2 hours and 45 minutes of walking, I took my first break and aired out my boots. Today was the first time I used gaiters, and they were a game-changer – no mud in my shoes!

Lunch and Fatigue
At 12:55 PM, after 22 km, I stopped for lunch. I went for a double cheeseburger and a Coke. Prices seem to be creeping up as we get closer to Santiago. After eating, I felt seriously wiped out and sore, and had to pop an ibuprofen.
Unexpected Stops and Phone Calls
After 26 km, I desperately needed a restroom and, luckily, stumbled upon a restaurant. I bought a Coke for €2 and got a stamp in my credencial. I saw fewer people today, but I made up for it with phone calls – three in total, the most I’ve made the entire trip.

Searching for Accommodation
Glancing at the map for potential overnight spots, things weren’t looking too promising. Finally, luck was on my side, and I found a place to stay at 4:30 PM after 34 km of walking. For €8, I got a disposable mattress cover and a pillow.

Tomorrow’s Plans
Tomorrow, I’m aiming to reach the finish line, do what needs to be done, and then take a day off from walking. According to my watch, I’ve covered 249.8 km in 7 days. Today’s weather was classic April Fool’s – a mix of drizzle, rain, sun, and wind, so I was constantly adjusting my layers.
