Camino Day 10: Last Day in Porto & Farewell

Morning Wake-Up and Planning

Finally, I slept properly! Despite the occasional squawking of seagulls, the sleep was great. Still, a wave of sadness hit me – this is the last day of my pilgrimage. I fly home tomorrow morning. I’m looking forward to seeing my kids and family, but at the same time, something amazing is coming to an end. After a shower and breakfast, I planned out the day and thought about what to pack. In the end, I opted for my backpack with water and a few essentials, and for extra security, I put my wallet and phone in my hip belt.

A Stroll to the Ocean

From my accommodation, I headed straight for the river, planning to follow it all the way to the ocean.

Along the way, I stopped for one last coffee and finally tried that local pastry Marcela from Frýdek recommended.

For just €2, I treated myself to a fantastic snack. Too bad I didn’t stumble upon this pastry sooner!

Meeting the Ocean

After a pleasant hour’s walk, I reached the ocean. It was truly magnificent! Even though the water was cold and there was a bit of a breeze, it was an incredible experience. I could have sat there for hours just watching the waves.

Lunch with a View

On the way back, I got hungry. I avoided the tourist traps and ended up buying a baguette, some grilled chicken, a small beer (Super Bock), and strawberries for dessert from a shop.

For a mere €6.40, I enjoyed lunch with a fantastic view!

Final Impressions of Porto

On my way back to my digs, three different people offered me weed or hash – I must have looked pretty desperate.

And here are some photos that didn’t quite fit anywhere else:

Farewell to the Camino

This marks the end of my incredible journey, my vacation, and this unique experience. I fly home early tomorrow morning. I’m already looking forward to the next adventure that awaits me in the future.
